Achievements

As a Performer

I have done a lot as a performer! all the way back in 2013 in Highschool up to the current date!

starting all the way back in High School, there I was consistently 1st chair and a leader within the program.
After auditioning for UNCC, I was awarded a Music Scholarship. During my time at Charlotte my success started early on.
As soon as my second semester (spring 2016) I managed 2nd chair in the Wind Ensemble.
The next year I was selected as principal chair in both the Wind Ensemble and the Orchestra as well as having many solo opportunities in the musical selections for multiple semesters throughout my tenure.
Internationally debuted with the UNC Charlotte Chamber Orchestra, 2018 at the Kay Meek Center in Vancouver, Canada
Outside of primary Classical ensembles, I was selected as the Lead Trumpet/Soloist for the Jazz Ensemble for 5 consecutive semesters.

Marching Band/Drum Corps:

Brass Captain and Lead Trumpet/Soloist at Mouth Pleasant High School, 2013-2014
Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps Lead Trumpet and soloist (2013,2017,2018 after DCI Finals, Back to Full time in 2019).
Colts Drum & Bugle Corps Lead Trumpet (2014).
Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps (2018).
In 2018 I also had a callback audition for Commandant’s Own DB&C (Marines).
I was a Musician in the Musical “Annie” (2017,2022).

Other:

Musician in the Musical “Spamalot”(2018)
Musician in the Musical “The Wiz” (2019)
Other than that, I mostly just perform regular gigs in the local Charlotte/Concord Region

Soon after Highschool, I jumped right into teaching as much as possible, starting pretty soon after the start of my freshman year of college. I've had both private students as well as worked with many high schools in the district.

14 total students to All District bands since 2017 (7 current)
Multiple Students placed highly in their respective school programs
Multiple Students placed into many Drum Corps
Multiple first place awards in class 1A (Northwest Cab HS)
Multiple first place awards in class 3A/4A including some sweeping of all related captions. (Hickory Ridge HS)
Multiple Sweeps in class, and Grand Champion Awards (Central Cabarrus HS)
Constant growth shown by all students

After the big wave of Covid settled down, Frankie was really struggling to keep up in band class as a freshman. He practically had no time face to face and was just kind of playing around with his horn in his room. When he got into highschool, he realized how far behind he was and was starting to lose confidence in himself and wanted to give up. Cameron has been fantastic at helping my students improve and further their love for music every day. He has always been on time and well prepared. I've worked with Cameron as a marching band instructional staff member at Hickory Ridge High School. We always worked together to find the best possible solutions to any of our problems and we really got a lot of good things done. We brought Cameron on to play with us on a small tour we were doing on the East Coast when our trumpet player got sick. He really worked hard to be able to catch up and to be able to play our music. got along with everyone really well and more than met our performance standard -Kellen McKay
