Biography

Bio

Cameron is a current student at UNC Charlotte studying Trumpet, with a somewhat new interest in Jazz/Commercial playing. Cameron started playing the trumpet at 11 years old in middle school and didn't really begin to fall in love with it until he found himself at Mount Pleasant High School under Mr. Bart Tulbert. Since then, Cameron knew that music was his passion as he went on to pursue music professionally in 2015. Throughout his Tenure at Charlotte, Cameron has excelled both in class and in ensembles. He has multiple principal placements within the Wind Ensemble and the Orchestra, along with a large amount of time spent playing lead or improvising solos with the Jazz Ensemble.  In 2018, he made his international debut as principal trumpet with the UNC Charlotte Chamber Orchestra at the Kay Meek Centre in Vancouver.

Cameron has also performed outside of school with multiple different ensembles or during solo events. You can find him on Sundays sometimes playing in church with a choir, and on other days with the praise band. Early on, one of Cameron’s biggest passions that followed him from high school was marching band, as he followed up by marching with both the Colts and the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps appearing as both a lead trumpet and soloist for each group, eventually even competing for a spot in the Commandant's own Drum & Bugle Corps in Washington D.C. Outside of that he has also taught at Northwest Cabarrus High School, Hickory Ridge High School and Central Cabarrus Highschool where numerous awards follow his instruction as well as the students' own success.

Cameron is a “floating” musician currently, as he doesn’t have a “main group” that he performs with, rather, he either finds groups with immediate need or these groups find him. Throughout his music career he has been featured in multiple roles within the pit ensemble in musical theater, doubling on both Trombone, French Horn, as well as his primary. He has played in big name shows such as The Wiz, Annie (twice now), and Spamalot to name a few (even showing off in his acting debut on stage during Annie).
